We have achieved a ground-breaking milestone by going PFC-free, in what is a historic step forward for our brand.
It is a move that has been at the top of our agenda over recent years, and we are proud to finally announce this news to the world. Behind the scenes, an incredible amount of research and work has been undertaken to ensure we continue to drive sustainability within the textiles industry by committing to responsible practises throughout our production and innovating in the name of the environment.
Recent developments in fabric technology have given us the ability to move away from the use of PFCs which are known to result in an unnecessary environmental cost. This has allowed us to create a PFC-free DWR, which is the industry’s first renewably sourced water repellent treatment of its kind. The new finish contains 63% renewably sourced content derived from a variety of plant-based sources. .
Over the last two years, we have worked closely with scientists, textile experts and dye houses to find a DWR replacement for PFCs that doesn’t compromise the quality of the fabric. Through rigorous testing in both the lab and field, our new environmentally friendly PFC-free DWR continues to deliver the performance specifications relevant for the end-user.
Speaking of the announcement, Ventile Marketing Manager, Daniel Odermatt, commented: “This is a milestone moment for Ventile, one which we are incredibly proud to announce after years in the making. As part of our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable textile production, moving to a PFC-free solution was the natural next step for our business."
“With the help of industry experts, we have created an environmentally friendly solution – a first of its kind in the textile industry – which continues to deliver the performance specifications Ventile fabric is renowned for.”
Moving to PFC-free is perhaps the most poignant and powerful of any of our achievements. It resoundingly reaffirms our commitment to sustainable practises and going the extra mile to protect our planet, while maintaining high performance levels with our fabrics. This a further indication of what can be achieved when brands, industry experts, and scientists all pull together for a common objective – responsible production with the environment firmly in mind.
