Ventile Takes Another Step Forward with Dr. Martens Partnership

Ventile has achieved another landmark in its proud history, in the form of the recent partnership with iconic British cultural footwear brand Dr. Martens.

In a move that saw a coming together of two titans of the fashion and textile world, Dr. Martens collaborated with Ventile to produce the limited edition 1460 Panel Boot, as part of Dr. Martens’ upcoming ‘Made in England’ range.

Utilising the Ventile L24 fabric in Blaze Orange and Black, Dr. Martens selected Ventile as the fabric of choice to be fashioned into a staple of British style, the 1460 Panel Boot. Combining the best-selling Ventile L24 fabric with the finest craftsmanship of the Dr. Martens’ Northamptonshire-based factory, the boot was created using traditional age-old shoe-making techniques to develop a premium product. The result is the Dr. Martens x Ventile 1460 Panel Boot, which offers customers the opportunity to buy a piece of textiles history..

But just why was Ventile chosen as the fabric of choice? Well, individually, both brands demonstrate the importance of heritage, provenance, and authenticity in the fashion and textiles marketplace. Ventile’s inspirational heritage, with its roots creating garments for RAF pilots, was originally developed in England in 1943, while Dr. Martens is a key segment of the British shoe industry and has been since 1960. The illustrious histories of both brands meant they were a perfect match for each other, and thus this partnership was created.

To give further context behind why Ventile was chosen, Dr. Martens Senior Footwear Designer Stella Makinwa said: “As part of our Made in England range here at Dr. Martens we like to collaborate with suppliers who manufacture products with similar core values for quality and durability. Ventile was the perfect choice with its rich heritage in performance and weather protection. We are very proud to use Ventile fabric within our Made in England range.”

Ventile Marketing Manager, Daniel Odermatt said of the partnership; “Dr. Martens has been an icon of British design for decades. For Ventile to have been selected to be part of the upcoming collection is an honour. Dr. Martens boots are a great example of bespoke craftsmanship, and it is wonderful to see the coming together of brands that both have a strong heritage and a unique production process.”

The news is a further indication of the growth and strong upward trajectory of Ventile, and a further nod to the growing momentum behind the demand for high-performing, high-quality, sustainable fabric. The scope for Ventile fabric and products continues to rise, and with it brings further movement towards a more sustainable industry over the coming years.
