In a world that is so fast-paced, here at Ventile each year we like to take a moment to pause, take stock, and look back on the year that was. In business there is a tendency to chase the next new thing, to push forward to the future and so, for now, we are taking this time to reflect and slow down, just as we advocate for our fashion. Let’s take a look at how 2022 panned out for Ventile.
We Welcomed New Partners
As sustainable fashion advocates, we are always keen to support new brands and this year we were fortunate enough to help support the launch of Mover Sportswear, a plastic-free clothing brand. Ventile fabric sat alongside plastic-free zips, buttons and finishings to create a plastic-free collection, something we are proud to have been a part of. Alongside this, we were also able to support the fantastic Norwegian-based alpine brand Streamlines who work to bend historic craftsmanship with modern performance without compromising on sustainability.
Expanding to a New Territory
For over a decade, Ventile has successfully traded in the Asian market and so, in April, we took the next step and expanded our reach in the South Korean market with the appointment of a new distribution partner, Grimm International. As the exclusive distributor of our premium fabric, Grimm International launched our best-selling L24 Original fabric and a host of new eco-fabrics to bolster sales in the region and present the brand to a wider audience.
Trade Shows Came Back in Force
After years of cancellations and limitations on travel, 2022 witnessed the return of industry trade shows in full force, and what an experience it was to see you all again. In the space of six weeks, our team visited three shows in three different countries where they caught up with customers new and old to chat about the new launches from Ventile, as well as drink lots of cups of coffee! It certainly cemented our view that the textile industry is one of the best in the world.
A combination of an increased interest in sustainable fabric solutions, news of steady economic growth, and re-instated consumer confidence, contributed to a bumper year for Ventile. In February this year, we were able to announce that forward orders were at the highest level recorded and up 68% on the previous year. In addition, we also found that forward orders of our ECO range surpassed those placed for Ventile Original fabric.
With a vast range of cotton and blended fabrics available we were also pleased to announce that cumulative sales across the entire range were up 35% in Q1 and Q2, from January through to June 2022, vs the same period in 2021.
We would like to thank our partners and customers for all of the support throughout 2022 and we cannot wait to see what we achieve in 2023.
